Alex, aged 47, says: “I went to a family gathering over the weekend, and everyone was eating foods that weren’t very nutrient dense. I felt a lot of pressure to join in, but I managed to stick to my plan and chose healthier options. It was tough, especially with everyone urging me to try the desserts.”
Respond to Alex using an affirmation.

Ali, aged 28, expresses: 'I'm really trying to make healthier choices, but it's tough when my partner isn't on the same page. Feeling guilty for wanting to prioritize my health is challenging, especially when it's met with resistance. For example, when I changed up my order from our favorite restaurant last Friday, my partner got mad at me and said things aren’t the same anymore. It's frustrating because I want their support, but it feels like my efforts are being dismissed.'"

50-year-old Stefan says: “Sometimes, it feels like I'm fighting this battle alone. I'm really motivated to prevent diabetes, especially after seeing what it did to my dad but, whenever I'm out with colleagues or at social events, it's like I'm surrounded by temptation. It's hard to stick to my healthy habits when everyone else is indulging in unhealthy foods. And when I try to resist, I get these looks or comments like I'm being overly restrictive. It's discouraging, you know? I wish I had more support from my friends and coworkers."
